TRÀ DƯ TỬU HẬU 4
Chuyện 4: TỰ DO
Nhà tôi sát vách nhà ông A. Chiều nào ông A cũng rủ tôi "lai rai". Riết rồi quen. Quen thành nhớ. Nên cứ vào chiều, tầm 5h, là lòng tôi cứ rạo rực, muốn sang nhà ông A nhậu. Mồi nhậu thường đạm bạc, là đồ ăn, ai có gì góp nấy. Ấy vậy mà thích. Có lẽ tại nhà ông A có sân rộng, ông A nhiều chuyện hay...
Vợ ông A tuy hiền, không càm ràm gì, nhưng qua nhiều cũng ngại. Có những chiều, đã quyết định không sang để muốn gia đình ông A hiểu cho rằng tôi cũng "có chí tiến thủ". Nhưng khi nghe tiếng ông A hú hí, đại loại:: "Thu ơi! Sao giờ này chưa qua, mày? Ông B, ông C đến hết rồi! Tính đợi mời hay sao đây?", là tôi như chực sẵn, "phóc" qua liền. Chiều nay cũng vậy, lạ quá!...
Rượu vào, một loáng đã thấy sừng sừng. Sự hứng khởi đã bắt đầu trở nên ồn ào. Còn nguyên tâm trạng ban nãy, tôi khơi mào câu chuyện bằng câu hỏi:
-Tự do là gì hả các anh?
-Xời! Hỏi thế cũng hỏi! - Ông B trề môi.
-Người tự do là người muốn làm gì cũng được, thích gì làm nấy...- Ông A trả lời.
Ông C lại dở laptop ra:
-Đây, đây! Có ngay!
Thế là trên "mạng", tôi đọc được những dòng này:

Khái niệm quyền tự do theo quan điểm của những người theo chủ nghĩa tự do truyền thống chủ yếu là tự do của cá nhân khỏi sự ép buộc từ bên ngoài (tự do khỏi sự câu thúc). Mặt khác, quan điểm của các nhà tự do xã hội nhấn mạnh nhu cầu về sự bình đẳng xã hội và kinh tế. Họ gắn kết quyền tự do với sự phân phối công bình quyền lực chính trị (dân chủ) xét trong mặt nghĩa của tự do tích cực. Họ cho rằng tự do mà không có bình đẳng thì tương đương với việc những kẻ mạnh nhất sẽ chiếm thế chi phối. Do đó, tự do và dân chủ được xem là cặp đôi gắn bó và rút cục là tương phản nhau.
Trong công trình On Liberty, John Stuart Mill là người đầu tiên nhận ra sự khác biệt giữa tự do (theo mặt nghĩa là quyền tự do hành động) với tự do (theo mặt nghĩa là không có sự áp bức). Mill cố gắng định nghĩa "bản chất và giới hạn của quyền lực có thể được thực thi một cách hợp pháp bởi xã hội lên cá nhân" và theo mặt nghĩa này thì ông mô tả tương quan đối nghịch giữa quyền tự do và quyền thế. Câu hỏi giờ trở thành "làm thế nào để điều chỉnh phù hợp giữa tính độc lập cá nhân và sự kiểm soát của xã hội".
